A postage stamp "100 Years of Opera in Stara Zagora" was validated

The stamp 100 Years of Opera in Stara Zagora was validated on 21 November 2025 at an official ceremony in the foyer of the State Opera Stara Zagora. The stamp has a mintage of 6,000 pieces and has a face value of 0.95 leva. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the State Opera - Stara Zagora, which is celebrated this year. The artist of the stamp is Ivelina Velinova.
"Today we have the honour to be part of a historic event - validation of a postage stamp 100 years of Opera in Stara Zagora. An anniversary that fills us with pride and respect for tradition and inspires us to boldly move forward with even greater responsibility. We have chosen the official validation of the brand to be today - when the 55th edition of FOBI opens in the jubilee year 2025, in which the Opera in Stara Zagora celebrates its centenary with a poster full of glamorous events," said Director Vladimir Boshnakov in his welcome speech. "This is an occasion to say thank you! Thank you to all those who over the years have left their lasting mark in the annals of the oldest opera house outside the capital, have participated in its creation, have supported it in difficult moments and have led it forward with enthusiasm, love and creative flair. Here is the place to thank the efforts of Mr. Ognyan Draganov and his team for the worthy celebration of this glorious anniversary!
For his part, Deputy Governor Levent Palov addressed warm words of gratitude for attending this memorable event. "In this building there is peace and kindness, which is necessary for society to overcome aggression, hectic lifestyle and to promote moral values!"
"It is a tradition for Bulgarian stamp publishing to reflect socially significant events, such as the 100th anniversary of the State Opera - Stara Zagora. Over the years, postage stamp editions dedicated to a number of Bulgarian and world composers and to important anniversaries have been launched on the theme of music," said Daniela Georgieva, head of the Regional Postal Station, before putting the stamp together with Opera Director Vladimir Boshnakov and Deputy Regional Governor Levent Palov. The validation of the postage stamp is the first event that kicks off another edition of the Opera and Ballet Festival in Stara Zagora.
The Festival of Opera and Ballet Art - Stara Zagora is organized by the State Opera - Stara Zagora with the financial support of the Culture Fund - Stara Zagora Municipality, Ministry of Culture, National Culture Fund under Component 11 "Social Inclusion", Investment 6 "Development of Cultural and Creative Sectors", 2.1 Grant Scheme "Establishment of Bulgarian productions and co-productions in the CCI sector and their promotion on European and international arts markets" of the Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
Partners of the festival are the Bulgarian National Television, the Institute for Arts Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bulgarian National Television, Radio Stara Zagora, Regional Library "Zahariy Knyazheski" - Stara Zagora, Regional Library "Pencho Slaveykov" - Varna, National School of Music and Performing Arts "Hristina Morfova" - Stara Zagora and Dobri Hristov Foundation.
